Thunder Outreach Awarded First "Key to Pottstown"

Mark Malizzi, The President of Thunder Outreach, and the program of Thunder Outreach were recently awarded the first "Key to the Borough" of Pottstown, PA. This is just the first step in a new initiative from Pottstown's Mayor Sharon V. Thomas to highlight organizations and recognize the people and teams who are positively impacting Pottstown and the local areas. This is only the first key given as part of this program which aims to unlocking goodwill, altruism, and unity in our area. As this program grows, the Mayor is expecting to reach many aspects and demographics of our community.

Mayor Thomas stated "As we work together as a community and pool our resources to improve and touch the needs of this region, it will take many teams and programs working together to make a real difference." Thunder Outreach has been recognized as just one of the programs that works with all aspects of each community and has been nationally recognized for their effort to connect and improve the quality of life in communities they work with. The Members of Thunder Outreach have been part of programs that thank and bless our fire, police officers and military personnel. They have also set two World Records for Food drives and held or worked with teams for major community block parties and music events like the recent Passion Fest event hosted by THP properties. Thunder Outreach has worked with faith based programs, community business leaders, and major companies to connected many parts of our community together. Thunder Outreach President Mark Malizzi stated “That our communities are much stronger when we work together”.

This Sunday Thunder Outreach will host “Victory Sunday” which is a community block party and food drive located in Victory park on 2nd street in Royersford form noon till 6pm. This free community event is co-sponsored by twelve local churches that have come together to raise food for families in need and for fellowship as the community. They have asked for people to bring non-perishable foods and for the community to get to know each other. Mark Malizzi, Reverand Slater, Mayor ThomasOver the last couple of years, Thunder Outreach has worked with DRS discount groceries located just off of Shoemaker Rd in the business complexes behind Friendly’s, to bring food and supplies to local programs at a very substantial savings. Local companies like Harleysville National Bank, Kulp Car Rentals, THP properties, Giant Food stores, Eastwood Company and Coke-a-Cola of Reading, just to name a few, have also donated or helped in this vision to positively touch lives in our region. Fred Beans Ford of Boyertown, where Thunder President Mark Malizzi is the Service Dept Manager and the Fred Beans Family of dealerships in Limerick have supported and partnered with Thunder Outreach to reach our communities.

Upcoming events for 2007 include a large car show, open house and food drive at the Eastwood Company on Sept. 8th called East Coast Thunder Rally, music events and food drives in Royersford and Pottstown, block parties, speaking events. They are connecting with even more major community partners, churches and people to work together as a network of blessing for this region. Thunder’s Outreach’s motto is “Touching our World one Community at a Time” and that is what they will continue to do. They are very thankful for receiving this “Key to the Borough of Pottstown” from the Mayor and also look forward to unlocking more programs in our region. The team's goal for 2007 is to reach out to and positively touch 50,000 people’s lives. With all the radio, TV, Newspapers and events that they have been a part of, they should even surpass that goal.
